Well, no idea... once you obtain the Egyptian nationality you are considered Egyptian and your embassy (country of first nationality) will not be able to help you. Husbands can forbid their wifes to leave the country and and and...

I do not wish anybody to have troubles, but I do not see the advantages to take the Egyptian nationality (except that you can buy a property in the Sinai  ) ...

:?: :?: :?:

My idea about taking egyptian citizenship apeared when I found out that you cant work in a bank if you are not egyptian.
I am financial analyst so i thought that working in a bank would be very close to what i know.
So I decided to apply.
I also can keep mine so I can go out from the country with my passport.
And i think would be easier with everything - no work permitt, no visas, so and so.
But mainly is about getting an respectable job after so many years of study and experience - what my child will say when he will grow up "My mother is guest relation in a hotel" ?

I had been suggested to apply to American Chamber of Commerce (e-net address: http://www.amcham.org.eg/default.asp; then go to Online service at the left side of the home page, then choose recruitement service and apply). They have great opportunities for foreigners (not Egyptian citizens) also, but you need to speak Arabic (as well as having all the know how that you have!).

(Usually work places has given to Egyptian citizens since this is the politic there. As well as in anyother country is. Citizens first. If countries do not apply as much as they can this kind of politic, you will very soon find all the population complaining about the fact that they, citizens, are job less while foreigners have a job. Of course many foreigners have somehow more know how compared to citizens ... but public and private employers must rather help citizens to build their know how instead to just and simply "use" foreigners employee. At the end, I think this is a clever way of acting since the goal to be achieved from a country, I think, is to make its citizens "growing up" instead to forget them in favour of foreigners).

Any job has a dignity and any honest worker is worth to be admired. It depends why do you work, what are your intentions. And of course, if your work do not damage anyone and better, can help someone: go for it. If you are looking for career ... the time will come when you will be able to go for it. Need to be patient. "Today we are here, tomorrow who knows": do your best "where" you are. And of course, "seed" for a brightening future. (For everyone).

This was was I think.

Greetings.

I dont understand why you are using arabic words.
About the jobs - of course every job is important and someone must do it.Maybe I will work in tourism in the end, who knows (I was working for a while ).
Just I dont see myself telling my son stories like the one with taxidriver . I think we must have higher ideals in our life....
I understand your thinking - is one of the ways to be happy "put for yourself law standards to can reach it " but on the other hand this can stop you from making progress. Some people can help others by beeing taxidrivers and others by beeing president of the country - well I was educated to try to became president - and it is too late to change this. (even if marrying an egyptian ruined all my chances....  )

Happy Easter and happy Sham el Neseem to all of you first of all.

According to Mr. Mohammad el Masry "The Specialist" phone number: +20 10 1650051, who's specialized in citizinship and visa issues:

A woman CAN obtain the nationality according to the following rules:

1 - Having an OFFICIAL marriage with an Egyptian, to be authenticated in the organization of "foreigners marriages" in Cairo, or in the embassy.

2- Staying in Egypt CONTINUOUSLY for the period of TWO YEARS, by means that the candidate should NOT leave Egypt during these 2 years.

3- Applying to the authorities for citizenship.

For more information, please contact Mr. El Masry "Contact Information Above".

I know I am a little late on this discussion but having the Egyptan citizenship does not give you anything apart from cheap flights  with egyptair and if you are Legally married to an egyptian you can do that anyway. Also you might like to know even if you don't have the egyptian citizenship but are married to an egyptian you still have no rights as far as the embassy helping you and your husband can still take your passport etc..
When I got married the embassy informed me by doing so I am under Egyptian law in regards to family realestate money etc... and that to date there are over 150 women from my country in egypt without there passports bcz husabnds took them and the embassy cannot help them soooooooo only thing to do is, do it the egyptian way and have a very detailed contract.

Yessss Pia of course theoretically if my husband ever dared to take my passport I would say I lost it and get a new one issued and head to the airport the same day it was issued ...... but bcz my mind cannot understand how the whole situation happens anyhow I am guessing they do something else besides taking the passport which would not allow them to travel but thanks for your solution :?

As far as the embassy goes I don't know which country you are from but my embassy is not just here just to assist people living in this country at the same time they do ASSIST you by informing you prior to issuing the marriage document that you are now living by egyptian law etc....... have you ever called your emabssy to ask which schools or doctors they recommend (as an example) they will not bcz they canbe liable for it .... so maybe you should ask your emabssy exactly what they offer as a service for you and you might be surprised...

And I don't really know what your last point meant about the airfare I guess you didn't catch my sarcasim  yours however was well thought out i guess...just discussing

My 2 cents worth, if my husband wanted to take my passport, I'd divorce him on the spot....what kind of marriage would that be having your husband controling you like that? My Egyptian husband wouldn't even think about doing such a thing.

:) Yes. The problem is the older they grow the more stubborn they become (more and more like their fathers) as perhaps us also :). And it is a strange thing that no one marries a person who hates her, true? we all marry someone who simply adores us, and still over the time some of these adorers end up hating each other in most intricate ways :(

About airfare Shannon, just ignored the sarcasm ;) to tell about the new prices unless you all already know and I am the last one who learned about it. Used to be 750LE just one way for us not-so-married foreigners, to Cairo, and is now 620LE return ticket.

I agree and I would never let it happen to me but there seems to be a big issue on it even you can see on these blacklists on the russian german sites how women are fooled blah blah blah and it seems to me you have a lot of foreign women who fall into these sorts of traps I thinks its quite unbeleivable how they beleived the nonsense in the first place and I hear stories all the time about women who's husband has taken their child or their money or what ever, I don't know anyone who has had there passport taken but I suppose its a similiar situation.

And if you did divorce your husband do you think it would be easy to travel with your child out of the country and actually if you are married to an egyptian you can't just get a divorce like that he has to agree or you have to go to court and good luck with that so it isn't so simple.

Gabriela I am definitly saying you are rude incase that wasn't clear I personally don't care if you are rude bcz nothing you said effects ME however it might affect others and I don't think thats fair.
Most arab cultures prefer their wives don't work and you couldn't have been to shocked bcz u seem to agree with there thought process.. which is also ok I for one prefer to work bcz I am bored staying at home waiting fro my son to come home from school if you prefer to teach your child to stay home then get up everyday and go to work then thats also OK as I beleive a mothers job is the most important job but on the same note I cannot condem someone who is working hard to feed their children.

[quote]The idea was - how I will convince my child to study hard and to build a future for himself when I am working in a job which requires no education ? It is called teaching by exemple.

Gabriela being a mother requires no education and staying at home requires no education so whats teaching by example??????

I was speaking about a job in a hotel - come on , I will not stay home all my life!!!
And I was speaking generally , from the point of view of a person who can choose the job.The topic is egyptian citizenship - and I was saying that I want egyptian citizenship to can work a diffrent job then in tourism .
Of course egyptian men prefere the women to stay home but if she is working, she must take a respectable job.Come on, we are exchanging informations here not fighting.
Why do you think that I want to offend someone ? Do you really think that I am an evil persone?
Do you think that if I would be forced I wouldnt work anythyng ? But this doesnt mean that I will not be unhappy.Thats why I am trying to choose another way . But I am like that , to change myself to be like all people ? Why? Dont be my friend if you think I am evil.
