Hello Everyone
I am moving to Sharm in a few months. I would like advice please from those of you who have experienced the move.
Having visited a few times, I am aware of the pitfalls of (some) "over-friendly" Egyptian men. I must say, however I have never felt threatened or out of my depth in any situation in Sharm... I would not do anything I wasn't comfortable with - in any country ! I think that if you can deal with the situations you encounter in a London club on a Saturday night you can cope with most. The majority of the people that I have met in Sharm have been lovely. Of course I don't believe all of the promises made, but then who does ?
I would like advise regarding finding employment. Have those of you who have re-located within the last few months found it easy to find work ? Does anyone think that I will be at a disadvantage as I only speak English ?
I'm considering a TEFL course to give myself options outside of the hotel and leisure industry. My job at the moment is Head of HR - although I am not expecting to walk into a similar position !
Any help and advice appreciated...
thanks
Lyndsay

Hi Lyndsay, I have homes in both London and sunny Sharm so come and go between the 2 places and altho I cannot offer you advice on employment I have to say that your expectations are realistic so fab that you are entering into this exciting venture with your eyes open and your feet planted firmly on the ground both with regard to work and the local men who I have add that on the odd occasion that I stop to indulge their chitty chatty and banter are at least easy on the eye! I wish you good luck with your move and I have to agree that after being mugged in London at 5.30pm on my way home from work (practically everyone I know in London has become the victim of crime and we are certainly not the sort of people who go out looking for trouble and being mugged was the 5th crime committed against me in the 25 years that I have lived in London) and living thru the terror of the riots that happened in London in August 2011 I have to say that I always sleep far souder in my bed in Sharm than I ever do in London. Keep us posted. Linzi, Nabq Bay, Sharm El Sheikh and Tower Bridge, London.

Hi...

the current situation does not make it easy to find jobs, but of course it always depends on many circumstances. Hotel jobs require a work permit.

In any case I would wait a bit until the political situation calmes down a bit.
